Fla. Turnpike Ramps Blocked After Semi Crash

Nov 3, 2005 | www.local6.com A big rig traveling on Interstate 4 in Orange County crashed and dumped its load on the road, forcing Florida Highway Patrol troopers to close several busy ramps during rush hour Thursday.

The tractor-trailer jackknifed and dumped its load of construction debris on the road Thursday afternoon.

Some of the semitrailers cargo hit a Mitsubishi traveling in the left lane of the turnpike interchange.

"Because of the accident, both ramps going to I-4, east and westbound on to the Florida Turnpike are shut down," Local 6 chopper pilot Dan McCarthy said. "So, the mess on I-4 is unbelievable."

The Florida Highway Patrol said the traffic problems should continue Thursday night.

There were no serious injuries in connection with the crash.
