Snowmobiles Recalled By Arctic Cat

About 3,000 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles have been recalled due to fire hazard the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, just announced. Arctic Cat is located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

Oil can leak into the engine compartment, posing a fire hazard to consumers. In addition, the fuel tank can come into contact with the engine, posing a possibility of wearing through and fuel leakage. To date, Arctic Cat has received 33 reports of oil leaks, including eight vehicle fires. There have been no reports of fuel leakage from the tank wearing against the engine and no injuries have been reported.

The recall involves Model Year 2009 Arctic Cat Z1 Turbo, Z1 Turbo Sno Pro and TZ1 Turbo model snowmobiles. The model name and number are displayed on the side of vehicle as well as in the registration materials/owner’s manual.

The recalled Arctic Cat Snowmobiles, which were manufactured in the United States, were sold from Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide from June 2008 through July 2009 and retailed for between $12,500 and $14,300.

The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using the recalled Arctic Cat Snowmobiles immediately and contact their local Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail. Arctic Cat can be reached toll-free at 1-800-279-6851 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday or at the firm’s Website at www.arctic-cat.com.
