According to an online news report posted on newyork.cbslocal.com, a 32-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a rideshare accident. The news report states that the impact of the accident was so severe that the woman was thrown from the rideshare car. The woman sustained life-threatening personal injuries. The victim was transported to the Bellevue Hospital, where she is listed as in critical condition. The 22-year-old rideshare driver was also transported to the hospital for serious personal injuries.
The T-bone collision occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday. According to the surveillance camera video, the rideshare car was traveling westbound along Dekalb Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, approached the Bedford intersection, and then a Dodge Charger collided with the rideshare car.
According to the news report, the force of the T-bone collision pushed the rideshare car onto the sidewalk, and the accident debris shattered a Gourmet Deli’s glass door. Both motor vehicles involved in the intersection accident were “mangled.”
The accident’s Witnesses asserted that the Dodge Charger was “souped up,” and the side panel had a painted image of Ghostface from the Scream movies.
Police think the Dodge Charger driver, a 22-year-old man, ran a red light. Investigators also believe that the Charger’s speed was a factor in the accident.
Law enforcement officers have not made the names of those involved in the catastrophic accident public. The accident is under investigation, and no criminal charges have been filed at this time. So far, no charges have been filed. This month, New York’s new back seat seatbelt law went into effect.
