Another Boys Town Resident Claims Abuse

'John Doe' Files Lawsuit

Mar 25, 2003 | AP Another former resident of Boys Town is claiming he was abused decades ago by a priest and a counselor at the famous home for wayward youth.

A lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Douglas County District Court against the Rev. James E. Kelly and Father Flanagan's Boys Town, the parent company of Boys and Girls Town.

The man who filed the lawsuit is only identified as John Doe. He claims he was repeatedly abused by Kelly and the late Michael Wolf, a former counselor.

The other lawsuit was filed in January by James Duffy against Boys Town. Both Duffy and John Doe claim repressed memories of the alleged abuse by Wolf and Kelly only resurfaced in the last year.

Boys and Girls Town, as Boys Town is now known, is conducting its own investigation into the allegations. In the meantime, Boys Town spokesman John Melingagio said the men's claims are unfounded.

Kelly on Tuesday denied the allegations from his Carson City, Nev., home.

He also said it is difficult to defend yourself against someone who is identified only as "John Doe."
