AutoZone Sued

Memphis-based AutoZone says it has been named as a defendant along with numerous others in an "insignificant number" of asbestos lawsuits regarding the sale of friction products such as brake parts.

AutoZone, a retail seller of auto parts, has never manufactured or installed these products. The company does not believe it has material liability in these cases, and will vigorously defend each case, AutoZone says.

AutoZone employs about 4,000 people at its Memphis area operations that include a headquarters at 123 S. Front.

The company sells auto and light truck parts, chemicals and accessories through 3,068 stores in 44 states and the District of Columbia and 39 stores in Mexico.
