Calif. Company Recalls Extension Cords

May 16, 2002 | AP

A California company is recalling about 12,000 extension cords that have reversed polarity and could shock or electrocute consumers.

E-filliate Inc., of Rancho Cordova, has received one report of a defective cord, but no reports of injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The recalled Ziotek brand extension cords are black and the letters "MSL" are on the three-pronged plug.

Models intended to connect to one plug have "" printed on the cord. Models with receptacles for two plugs have "ZIO TEK" printed on the splitter.

The "Cyberguys" catalogs and Web site sold the extension cords from January 2002 through March 2002 for between $2 and $3.
