Companies Recall Propane Heaters, Heaters

Aug 21, 2003 | AP A company is recalling 40,400 propane heaters because they can emit unsafe levels of carbon monoxide that could poison people if used indoors.

Academy Sports and Outdoors, of Katy, Texas, has not received any reports of injuries caused by its Timber Creek Propane Heaters, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The product has a 6-inch heat reflector and operates with a separately sold propane tank.

Academy Stores sold the heaters for around $20 from September 2001 to May 2003 in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
