CPSC and Next Marketing Inc. Announce Recall of 22,000 Youth Hooded Fleece with Drawstring that Pose Strangulation RiskFeb 25, 2006 | Newsinferno News Staff
The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Next Marketing Inc., of Wabash, Indiana, have announced the voluntary recall of about 22,000 Youth Hooded Fleeces because the drawstring through the hood poses a strangulation hazard to children.
The agency acknowledged that it was alerted to this serious risk by the state of Wisconsin.
Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.
The recalled garments were manufactured in Pakistan and China and sold at web retailers, college book stores, and department stores nationwide from September 2003 through December 10, 2005 for about $15.
To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported.
The recalled garments have drawstrings and were sold in a variety of colors. Many have the names of colleges and universities printed or embroidered on them. A sewn-in tag reads, “Lil Fan” or “LF 2.”
Consumers should remove or cut the drawstrings to eliminate the strangulation hazard. They may also return the garment to the store where purchased for help in removing the drawstring.
