Daughter, Boyfriend Charged With Elder AbuseAug 22, 2003 | Chicago Sun Times
A woman and her boyfriend have been charged with elder abuse, a felony, after her mother was found this week in a sweltering apartment lying on a hospital bed in her own feces and urine, investigators said.
The 62-year-old woman also had maggots crawling on her body, was stuck to her bed because of bed sores and had lost the top of her toe because it stuck to her socks when emergency workers tried to remove them, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.
Mary Rogers, 41, and Max Blackmer Jr., 35, were ordered held on $425,000 bonds Thursday after they appeared separately before Cook County Judge Kevin Michael Sheehan.
An ambulance was called to the home Tuesday because the victim was unresponsive. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but has since stabilized, prosecutors said.
