Easy-Bake Recalls Cookie Sets Over MixApr 10, 2003 | AP
Easy-Bake on Thursday voluntarily recalled about 155,000 cookie sets because they include cookie mix packets with undeclared ingredients.
The white-powder mix contains milk proteins and possibly peanuts, both of which can cause serious reactions in people with allergies or sensitivity to the foods.
The Bake 'N Design Cookie Sets came in a purple and pink box with the company's logo. The product number 60813/60821 or 60814/60821 was printed on the right corner of the front panel. The sets included the white cookie mix, icing mix, two food decorating pens and four cookie cutters.
The sets have been selling since November 2001 at major toy stores and outlets throughout the United States. They cost about $6.99.
One illness was reported in Canada, but there have been no complaints in the United States.
Easy-Bake's parent company, Hasbro, Inc., of Pawtucket, R.I., worked with the FDA's Boston district office in defining the recall, FDA spokesman Brad Stone said.
