Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Recalled Over Metal Pieces

Mar 20, 2015

Kraft Foods Group just issued a voluntarily recall of select Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Boxed Dinners for specific Code Dates and Manufacturing Codes over potential contamination with metal pieces, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just announced. The product was sold in the United States and was shipped to Puerto Rico, some Caribbean countries, and some South American countries. The product was not sold in Canada.

The recall involves approximately 242,000 cases of the Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Original flavor, in the 7.25-ounce package, that bears “Best When Used By” dates of September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015. The package also bears the letter and number combination “C2” beneath the date. According to the agency, “C2” refers to the production line on which the affected product was manufactured. No other production lines are involved.

Some of the recalled Kraft Macaroni & Cheese packages were distributed in multi-pack units bearing different code dates and manufacturing codes on the outer box or shrink-wrap packaging. These codes are dependent on the product’s package configuration. The recalled product was sold in the following four configurations only:

  • 7.25-ounce box: Original flavor
  • 3-pack box containing the recalled 7.25-ounce boxes: Original flavor
  • 4-pack shrink-wrap box containing the recalled 7.25-ounce boxes: Original flavor
  • 5-pack shrink-wrap box containing the recalled 7.25-ounce boxes: Original flavor

Specific dates, codes, and UPCs may be found at the agency’s website at: www.fda.gov/safety/recalls/ucm438700.htm or on the Kraft Foods announcement posted at: newscenter.kraftfoodsgroup.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=253200&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2026530

No other sizes, varieties, pasta shapes, or packaging configurations are included in the recall.

To date, Kraft has received eight consumer contacts concerning product from this manufacturing line; no injuries have been reported.

Consumers who purchased this product are advised not to eat the recalled Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and should return the product to the store of purchase.
