Maytag Refrigerator Recall Expanded Following More Overheating, Damage ReportsAug 26, 2009 | Parker Waichman LLP Maytag is expanding its March refrigerator recall to include an additional 46,000 Maytag, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley brand refrigerators. The original Maytag refrigerator recall was for 1.6 million refrigerators that posed a fire hazard.
According to the recall notice, an electrical failure in the relay, the component that turns on the refrigerator’s compressor, can cause overheating and pose a serious fire hazard.
