Plantain Products Recalls ChipsJun 14, 2002 | AP Plantain Products said Friday that its recall of Chifles brand Spicy Plantain Chips and Spicy Cassava Chips includes packages dated through Sept. 11.
The company announced Thursday that it was recalling about 3,400 bags of chips dated through June 11 because the ingredient list did not mention whey protein, a common allergen.
The affected chips, which come in 2-, 4-, 5- and 8-ounce packages, were produced through June 11, when the problem was discovered. Those bags carry expiration dates as late as Sept. 11.
The chips were distributed to stores in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut, the company said.
