Publix-Brand Jalapeno Bagels Recalled, May Contain Glass or Stones

Sep 18, 2014

Publix is recalling its jalapeno bagels because they may contain pieces of glass and small stones. According to a press release posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website, the bagels were distributed to Publix stores located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. The recall does not affect Publix stores located in Tennessee and North Carolina.

The bagels were sold either in the artisan cases in the bakery department or in the self-service bins. The supplier informed Publix that the jalapeno bagels may contain glass and small stones, the release states. There have been no reported injuries thus far, according to Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. Brous stated in the release that “Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund. Publix customers with additional questions may call our Customer Care Department at 1-800-242-1227 or by visiting our website at”

There are 1,078 Publix stores located in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. The privately owned company has some 169,000 employees.
