Two Employees Charged With Severely Beating Elderly Arkansas Woman

Aug 8, 2003 | AP Two Arkansas nursing home employees are each being held on 100-thousand dollars' bond after being accused of beating an elderly woman with brass knuckles.

The nursing assistants are each charged with a felony count of adult abuse.

The pair is accused of beating an 81-year-old woman on July 30th because she was supposedly being "disrespectful." The woman is in the critical care unit at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

If convicted, each suspect faces five to 20 years in prison.

An employee in the Division of Long Term Care in the Arkansas Department of Human Services says the Dallas County Nursing Home was cited in June for substandard care.
