As nursing home abuse becomes more known to the public, people are becoming increasingly more aware of the dangers their loved ones may face in a facility.
In most cases, the abuse is typically from bedsores, fractures, and inattentive staff. At least that’s what we’ve found, as we deal with nursing home abuse cases every day. Although these are the majority of injuries, harm can come in all different forms.
Bedsores are the most common of all injuries and the most preventable. Bedsores occur when pressure is placed on a part of the body and it doesn’t get any relief. This can cause redness, swelling, and even skin deterioration. The staff can easily prevent this by simply rotating and repositioning the patient regularly to avoid pressure building up. Patients may also suffer from fractures as they are very susceptible to slip and falls. And when the nursing home staff becomes inattentive to the residents, it can endanger them even further. With overworked and underpaid staff, you run a much higher risk of danger to your loved one. Just as an overworked doctor in an operating room can cause a fatal mistake, this can happen in nursing homes as well. Watch this video now to learn more.
