Parents with small children should immediately check to see what kind of baby seat they are using for their child, as one of the largest manufacturers of these seats recently issued a recall which could affect millions.
Bumbo International Trust, makers of baby seats intended to hold small children and infants, has voluntarily recalled approximately 4 million of its popular Bumbo Baby Seats. The reason for the recall, according to Bumbo and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is that better warning labels are needed for the products.
The reason for the warning labels is that many users of the products unknowingly place the baby seats on elevated surfaces where they are not supposed to be used. This results in the seats falling and the children inside suffering various injuries. Since 2007, when over one million of these products were originally recalled, there have been at least 50 reports of seriously injured infants and young children associated with these seats, over 30 of which are directly related to the seat being used improperly.
Owners of any Bumbo products should take extreme caution and not use any baby seats until further information is released.
