Stage 4 Ulcers: Tell-Tale Sign of Nursing Home Abuse & Neglect
April 6th, 2012 tmccoy
Stage 4 ulcers are defined as full thickness tissue loss extending through the dermis and through subcutaneous tissue down to the fascia and commonly involves muscle and/or bone. This is the most server stage of a sore and is very deep. These type of sore are very common in nursing homes and are a sign of abuse and neglect. Many times Nursing home staff members will claim the sores are unavoidable. This is very common because if a legal action is file it could be a complete defense if the sore was not avoidable. This defense is seen far too much.
Don’t accept this from the nursing home if this happens to you or a loved one. Demand answers in writing why it is not avoidable and what they did to prevent the ulcer from forming.
