Tile Perfect Inc. Recall Its Stand’n Seal Grout Sealer. The Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Tile Perfect Inc., a division of Roanoke Companies Group Inc., of Aurora, Illinois, has announced a voluntary recall of about 300,000 cans of Stand’n Seal “Spray-On” Grout Sealer manufactured in the United States and sold in 2005.
Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.
The product’s odor is not chemically pungent enough to force consumers to minimize their exposure to the fumes. Consumers overexposed to these toxic fumes can experience respiratory-related illness.
The Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center, in Denver, Colo., informed Roanoke Companies Group that two people had been hospitalized after using Stand’n Seal Grout Sealer. This report prompted the recall.
There have been 88 reports from consumers who have had adverse reactions after using the aerosol product. They include 28 confirmed reports of overexposure resulting in respiratory symptoms for which medical attention was sought for coughing, irritation, difficulty breathing, dizziness, and disorientation. Thirteen individuals required medical treatment including overnight hospitalization.
