A 35-year-old man is accusing a Juneau priest of molesting him when he was a child.
The Juneau Catholic diocese is asking police to investigate the sexual abuse allegations against the Reverend Michael Nash of the Cathedral of the Nativity.
Joel Post, a former Juneau resident, says the alleged abuse occurred between 1979 and 1982.
Nash says he is innocent but voluntarily stepped aside from his duties yesterday while the allegations are investigated.
Bishop Michael Warfel says he contacted authorities yesterday to begin an investigation.
Petersburg attorney Fred Triem, who represents Nash, says Post is “not credible” and the allegations are false.
Triem says Post may be trying to get revenge for times Nash scolded Post and other boys when they misbehaved in the church’s youth group more than 20 years ago.
