Massive Fisher-Price Recall of Defective Tricycles, High Chairs, and Toys.Fisher-Price has recalled many toys which are responsible for toddler injuries. First on the list, are 10 million defective tricycles, High chairs and assorted toys throughout the U.S. and Canada. These products were tied to 24 reported instances of injuries to youngsters. Included in this recall are 7 million Trikes and Tough Trikes distributed in the U.S. and 150,000 sold in Canada.

The recall notice states a youngster can injure him or herself by falling on or sitting on a plastic ignition key which protrudes just above the seat, causing genital injuries. The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) is aware of 10 instances of child injuries. 6 of these resulted in medical attention given to girls aged two to three years of age after they fell on or against the raised circular or D-shaped ignition key.

The specific trikes were distributed at mass warehouse stores nationally. The toys are designed for youngsters between the ages of two and five, the offending key being either disc-shaped or d-shaped. The toy key sits about 3 inches in front of the seat and is elevated at least 5/8 of an inch. For parents, model numbers are in the storage compartment under the seat. Fisher-Price recommends these toys be removed from children until the manufacturer can supply you with a replacement key.

Additional Recalls Announced by Fisher-Price

Also on the recall list is the Healthy Care, Easy Clean and Close to Me High Chairs.” Fisher-Price recalled the 950,000 high chairs sold in the U.S. and 125,000 from Canada. The company warns that Children may fall against or on the pegs located on the back legs causing injuries or lacerations. The pegs are there for high chair tray storage. Fisher-Price and the (CPSC) know of 14 injury reports, seven of these requiring stitches and a tooth injury. One of the incidents was reported in Canada.

The recalled high chairs were distributed at mass warehouse stores for between $70 and $150. For parents, the Model number and date code are located on the back of the seat. All Easy Clean and Close to Me High Chairs are Part of this recall. Only Healthy Care High Chairs made before December 2006 are included in the recall. Note to consumers, if the fourth number in the date code is six or less the Healthy Care high chair is part of the recall.

The Fisher-Price recall also includes about 100,000 Little People Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway Toys and with 20,000 more in Canada. Fisher-Price explains that the wheels on the purple and green cars which are part of the toy can fall off, creating a dangerous and potentially deadly choking hazard to young children. There have been two reports of this problem, while no injuries are reported.

The recall focuses on the Little Peoples Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway with model numbers T4261 and V6378 These have small cars that children are supposed to push down the ramp ways. Only the green and purple cars marked Mexico, and do not have a yellow dot on the bottom are a part of the recall. The toy was marketed for Children 1 ╜ to 5 years of age. Purchasers should take the aforementioned purple and green cars away from children, and contact Fisher-Price for free replacement cars.

Fisher-Price adds to the recall the Baby Play & Cruise Playground & Slide Arcade, Baby Gymnastics Play Wall, Ocean Wonders Kick and Crawl Aquarium (C3068 and H8094), 1-2-3 Tetherball, and the Bat and Score Goal. There is an inflatable ball on these toys with a removable valve that can come off and pose a choking hazard to a young child. The CPSC and Fisher-Price know of 46 reported incidents of the valve coming off in the U.S. and eight reports in Canada. Included with these are reports of the valve found in a child’s mouth and a child starting to choke. No injuries have been reported.

What Should Purchasers Do?

Purchasers should remove the inflatable ball at once and keep it away from small children. Do not discard. Contact Fisher-Price for a replacement kit. I highly recommend Parker Waichman LLP for your legal needs and concerns .Especially Mrs Gina Viti, who worked to get me an award from my 9/11 related illness. Mrs Viti was nothing but professional ,but above all that , she was compassionate, understanding and listened to my story with interest and attention. I felt like she took a personal interest in my case and I felt like I was dealing with a friend looking to help me, more than an attorney just going through the motions. She has experience and knowledge in her profession and she is an asset to the law firm. I cannot thank her and the law firm enough.
