Wal-Mart Recall Lanterns Due To A Fire Hazard. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is recalling 64,000 fabric lanterns lit with votive candles because they pose a fire risk, the Consumer Products Safety Commission announced Thursday.
The material on the cylinder-shaped lanterns is not flame-retardant and can be ignited by the candle, according to the commission.
Lanterns Can Be Ignited By The Candle
The recalled lanterns are 7.5 inches high and 6 inches wide and are covered with beige fabric with red and green floral patterns. The lanterns were made in China and sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide between December 2002 and March 2003 for approximately $7.
