Injured by Cardizem?

Parker & Waichman, LLP is currently investigating reports of permanent male infertility associated with Cardizem. The generic name of Cardizem is Diltiazem, which is also sold in the United States under the brand names: Cartia XT, Dilacor XR, Diltia XT and Tiazac. The FDA approved Cardizem on March 21, 2003.

Cardizem is a popular calcium channel blocker used to relax or widen your blood vessels making it easier for your heart to pump and reduce the stress of the heart. Cardizem is usually used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), to treat angina (chest pain), and to slow unusually fast heartbeats but it is often commonly prescribed for off-label uses as well.

Studies have found that Cardizem greatly inhibits the motility and viability of sperm. It is believed that these drugs may elevate the cholesterol level in sperm leading to the decreased ability of the sperm to bind to the egg.

In fact some doctors believe that Cardizem can be used as a male contraceptive. While it is believed that the infertile effects of Cardizem are reversible, reports of permanent male infertility have surfaced.

If you or a loved one took Cardizem and suffered side effects, please fill out the form at the right for a free case evaluation by a qualified drug side effects attorney.
