Injured by Diltiazem?
Parker & Waichman, LLP is currently investigating reports of permanent male infertility associated with Diltiazem. Diltiazem is sold in the United States under the brand names: Cardizem, Cardizem CD, Cardizem LA, Cardizem SR, Cartia XT, Dilacor XR, Diltia XT and Tiazac. The FDA approved Diltiazem manufactured by Biovail Laboratories on March 21, 2003.
Diltiazem is a popular calcium channel blockers used to relax or widen your blood vessels making it easier for your heart to pump and reduce the stress of the heart. Diltiazem is usually used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), to treat angina (chest pain), and to slow unusually fast heartbeats but it is often commonly prescribed for off-label uses as well.
Studies have found that Diltiazem greatly inhibits the motility and viability of sperm. It is believed that these drugs may elevate the cholesterol level in sperm leading to the decreased ability of the sperm to bind to the egg. For these reasons Diltiazem is now commonly being used as a vas irrigation at the time of vasectomy.
If you or a loved one took Diltiazem and suffered side effects, please fill out the form at the right for a free case evaluation by a qualified drug side effects attorney.
