Putting a loved one in a nursing home is already a difficult decision, but choosing the right one is just as important. To help you decide on the best choice there are a couple key things to look out for. You can also do an internet search, ask people you know, and visit nursing homes. But when you're in a home, look for things beyond the basic needs. Is it clean? Does the staff look helpful and always available or busy and can't be bothered? Or are residents sitting there waiting on staff? Choose a home close to your work or home, as it's been shown that loved ones with frequent visitors are taken care of better.
