Nexium Bone Fracture Warning

On May 25, 2010, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the labeling for Nexium and other proton pump inhibitors was being modified to include information about their association with broken bones. The first such lawsuit was filed in April 2011 by an Ohio woman who allegedly suffered a broken leg in 2005 and 2007 due to rapid bone deterioration caused by Nexium. The plaintiff in that lawsuit had been taking Nexium for eight years. A month later, a group of 35 women filed a Nexium fracture lawsuit in Houston, Texas. They claimed to have suffered a variety of broken bones, including fractures of the ribs, ankles and feet. One of the plaintiffs involved in that Nexium fracture lawsuit, a 62-year-old woman, claimed to have suffered six different fractures since she started taking Nexium.
