Parker Waichman Scholarship

Parker Waichman is one of America’s largest law firms – dedicated to helping individuals stand up for their rights, often in the face of long odds. America’s legal system is constantly evolving – laws change, rulings are overturned and new precedents are established. This evolution (presumably) marks a slow and steady march towards equality and justice – key tenets of the United States.

Parker Waichman is proud to sponsor an essay contest – the winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants are asked to answer that following question:

“How would you change a current U.S. law to improve society?”

Any student who is currently enrolled in college, or will be enrolled during 2014 can apply for the Parker Waichman Scholarship.

How to Enter:

To enter, the student must write a 300-500-word essay explaining an existing law. The law referenced may be federal, state or local. The essay should summarize the law and include a web link to it. Clearly demonstrate examples of how changing or abolishing the law would enhance individual rights, justice and/or equality. Consider reviewing the history of the existing law, how it impacts individuals and why it was established in the first place. Make specific recommendations for how the law should evolve.

You can simply send the essay, with your full name, school you will be attending, and contact information to

Only 1 essay entry per person.

The deadline to submit an essay is July 31st, 2014 at midnight. The contest winner will be selected by Parker Waichman LLP and will be announced on August 14th, 2014. Winners will be notified via email, and or phone. The Winner’s name will also be posted on Parker Waichman’ Facebook page.

The $1000 award will only be usable for tuition and book costs and the check will be written to the winner's school of choice.

All entries become the property of Parker Waichman LLP.
