Soriatane Side Effects May Result In Depression Lawsuits
Soriatane | Lawsuits, Lawyers | Side Effects: Depression, Thoughts of Self Harm, Aggressive feelings
Soriatane is a psoriasis drug that may cause depression, thoughts of self harm and aggressive feelings. Roche Holding AG, the manufacturer of Soriatane recently added a new warning to the label. Soriatane is a retinoid and has been on the market for six years. Retinoids make the skin more sensitive to light, therefore sensitive to burning. Soriatane is put into the same category as the acne drug Accutane, whose label warns of suicide, psychosis and depression.
Soriatane’s label change now includes data regarding the drug’s clinical efficacy. The addition of new side effects on the label was required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Severe psoriasis, which causes raised, scaly and inflamed patches on the skin and severe acne are debilitating and can sometimes lead to depression. Soriantane can also cause serious birth defects. It is only prescribed for severe forms of psoriasis. Roche Holding AG already has a warning label about birth defects. Now they have strengthened the label and have told doctors that patients must present two negative pregnancy tests before prescribing Soriatane.
