Plainview, New York – May 11, 2020 – According to an online news story published on Patch.com, a private ambulance was carrying a patient and heading to Plainview Hospital was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. The accident occurred on an exit ramp off of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. According to police, the accident shut down two roads in the immediate area. Old Country Road was closed off in both directions as the emergency crew worked the accident scene. One of the exit ramps from the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway was also closed to traffic.
The ambulance accident occurred at approximately 6:45 on Monday morning. The scene of the accident was at the intersection of Old Country Road and the exit ramp of the northbound lanes of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, according to police.
The news report states that Plainview firefighters were able to stabilize the ambulance using wood cribbing. The rescue team was then able to access and remove the patient and emergency medical technicians from the back of the ambulance, which was leaning in an unsafe position. After the patient was removed from the back of the ambulance, the patient was placed into a Plainview Fire Department ambulance, and then was transported to the hospital.
The patient was removed from the crashed ambulance and taken to the hospital in a Plainview Fire Department ambulance.
