General Motors Windshield Wiper Recall
According to cnn.com, General Motors has initiated a recall of more than 680,000 motor vehicles due to a dangerous windshield wiper defect. The affected vehicles include model years 2014/2015 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain sports utility vehicles. The recall announcement states that some windshield wipers can fall after the wiper ball joints wear away or corrode.
According to a press release by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall affects more than 681,500 units, which is approximately 1% of the SUVs manufactured.
A GM communications manager, Daniel Flores, stated that General Motors had initiated a voluntary recall of some 2014-2015 model year GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox vehicles. The recalled SUVs will replace the windshield wiper modules. GM issued a similar recall back in 2017. That recall affected the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. The NHTSA reported that the affected owners would receive recall letters on May 2, 2022. GM dealers will replace or repair the windshield wiper modules for free.
