Kia optima side impact lawsuits
According to a new article posted on consumerreports.org, at the beginning of 2022, a metal bracket hit and seriously injured a driver when the vehicle’s side-impact airbag was deployed. The recall news alert warns that Kia Optima sedans that were manufactured between August 12, 2011, and September 27, 2013 have a dangerous defect. The recall notice states that affected Kia Optima sedans’ have headliner plates that can detach during the deployment of side-impact airbags in an accident, causing serious injury.
Kia dealerships will repair the defect by adding industrial-grade adhesive tape over the right and left headliner plates to secure them to the vehicle’s headliner. Kia will contact all affected owners by mail beginning on September 26, 2022. Kia Optima Owners may also reach Kia through its website. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall number is 22V560. Kia’s recall number is SC245.
To check if your motor vehicle has a recall, you can visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website and search your vehicle for open recalls. By plugging in your car’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN), your vehicle does not have any open recalls if a recall doesn’t appear. Automakers frequently issue recalls, especially older vehicles.
