Millions of ford and lincoln vehicles recalled
According to a news report posted on motor1.com, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated an investigation involving front brake failures on Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion sedans. The investigation began after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received more than fifty complaints. The NHTSA is investigating reports of leaking and rupturing front brake lines causing the braking system to fail. If the brake lines fail, there is a significant risk of accidents. Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are trying to find a solution.
The NHTSA investigation states that Ford Fusions manufactured from 2013 to 2018 Ford Fusion as well as Lincoln MKZ sedans, have the potential brake system defect. The complaints also alleged that the front brake lines rupture or leak fluid with little warning. The leaking of brake fluid means that the braking system cannot properly operate, leading to safety hazards.
Right now, there is no recall in place to repair the affected Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion sedans. The NHTSA’s investigation is designed to collect more information about this problem before a repair can be put into effect. Ford may issue a voluntary recall if the NHTSA does not demand a recall at the conclusion of its investigation.
If a recall is announced, the repair would include replacing the front brake lines and bleeding the braking system lines to prevent air bubbles. Air bubbles in the braking fluid or braking system will cause the brakes to operate with inconsistent stopping power. The remedy would repair any braking problems found in the NHTSA’s investigation.
The 2013 to 2018 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion sedans were Ford’s last cars before the company moved to SUVs and trucks-only model lineup. Ford will support this final run of cars to ensure that the owners are taken care of throughout the NHTSA’s investigation.
