According to a recall announcement published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Yamaha has initiated a recall affecting its Drive2 golf cart and personal transportation vehicles. The recall states that the affected Yamaha Drive2-Fleet and Drive2-personal transportation vehicles have a brake defect that could cause the braking system to fail, leading to an accident that could cause injury or death to bystanders, operators, and passengers.
The recall affects about 5,000 vehicles and involves Yamaha’s 2021 and 2022 Personal Transportation and Golf Car vehicles. The recalled Yamaha vehicles were sold in multiple colors including blue, white, orange, and green. The model name can be found on the right and left side of the vehicle. The serial number can be found on the frame underneath the driver’s seat.
The recall affects the following Yamaha golf cars and personal transportation vehicles:
Customers who have a recalled vehicle are asked to immediately stop using the affected Yamaha motorized vehicles. Owners are urged to contact a Yamaha Golf Car dealer and schedule their free repair. Yamaha will contact all registered owners directly. The recalled vehicles were sold exclusively at Yamaha golf car dealers from April 2020 until August 2021 at a price of $6,000 to $9,500.
