Giant Bicycles Fall Injury Lawsuits
According to an online news report posted on bikebiz.com, Giant Bicycle has initiated a massive 20,800 bicycle recall in the United States. The bikes were recalled due to a defect that can cause riders to fall and sustain injuries. No bicycles shipped to the UK are affected the recall. The recall affects the following models:
- 2021 Giant Cypress DX,
- 2021Giant Escape 3 Comfort,
- 2021 Liv Flourish FS 1, and
- 2021 Liv Alight 3 Comfort bikes.
Giant Bicycle stated that they have received 86 incident reports that state the affected bicycles’ handlebars can become loose. Three bicycle riders have reported sustaining injuries after falling off recalled bicycles.
The recalled bikes were available for purchase at authorized Giant Bicycle dealers throughout the United States and online at giant-bicycles.com or www.liv-cycling.com from October 2020 until October 2021. The units were retailed at between $590 and $690. The bicycles were sold in dark silver, metallic black, greyish blue, dark red/burgundy, sage, or plum, according to the recall notice from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recalled bicycles also have a serial number that starts with the letter “P.” The serial number is located on the bottom bracket of the bike’s frame underneath the crank. The word “Giant” is printed on the down tube of the Escape 3 Comfort and Cypress DX models, and “Liv” is printed on the Alight 3 Comfort’s down tube. “Liv” is printed on the Flourish FS 1’s chainstay.
Customers who purchased the recalled bicycles are urged to stop using the bicycles and call Giant Bicycle. Those affected by the recall will receive a free inspection and repair at an authorized Giant Bicycles retailer.
