
Fatal bicycle accident in NY
UPPER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN, NY – June 16, 2020 – According to an online news article posted on abc7ny.com, a fatal bicycle accident occurred on the Upper East Side. The cyclist was hit by an MTA bus, according to the news report. The bicycle accident happened at approximately 9 a.m. near East 59th Street and Fifth Avenue. MTA officials and law enforcement officers stated that the female cyclist was found “unconscious and unresponsive” due to severe head trauma. The woman was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The bus driver also remained at the scene to discuss the accident with law enforcement. The identity of the accident victim hasn’t been released to the public.
A few days ago, another serious bicycle accident resulted in serious injuries. According to an online news report by the NYPost.com, an E-bike rider is now in critical condition after a collision with a pedestrian in Corona, Queens, New York. The e-bike rider and a pedestrian crashed into each other in Corona, Queens, New York, law enforcement said. The cyclist and pedestrian collided near the 41st Avenue and Junction Boulevard intersection at approximately 10 p.m., according to police. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old man, was brought to the NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst. The man is in stable condition. The bicyclist, a 40-year-old man, sustained a life-threatening traumatic head injury, and the cyclist was transported to a hospital, and the man was in critical condition, according to the police.
Law enforcement did not say which direction the cyclist or the pedestrian was heading at the time of the accident. It is unclear who man had the right of way.
