BRONX, NY – According to a news report on nydailynews.com, a driver from the Bronx critically injured a cyclist and then collided with a parked NYPD cruiser. As the suspect attempted to leave the scene of the accidents, he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a 16-year-old driver head-on. The NYPD was able to locate and arrest the at-fault driver. Criminal charges are pending for the 21-year-old motorist who was driving a Nissan southbound in a northbound traffic lane along Webster Avenue by E. Gun Hill Road in Norwood. The accident occurred at around 9 PM last Tuesday.
The driver, who had two occupants in his vehicle, sped away after striking the teen pedestrian. He then collided with a parked NYPD SUV parked.
The teen cyclist sustained a severe head injury. EMS transported the teen to Jacobi Medical Center, where he is listed as in critical medical condition.
The driver was also transported to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The two passengers with the driver were taken into custody to be questioned by law enforcement.
