BRONX, NEW YORK – A news story posted on New York Daily News reports that a Bronx driver collided with the back of an MTA bus. The collision killed his passenger and seriously injured himself, according to police reports.
The news story states that a 20-year-old man was driving his Nissan Maxima along Bartow Avenue in Baychester, New York. The man collided into the back of a bus that was stopped by Co-op City Boulevard. The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m., according to police.
According to the police, medics rushed the driver and his rider to Jacobi Medical Center. Tragically, the passenger passed away. The passenger was not carrying identification on them, and police officers have been working on identifying him. The driver is in critical medical condition.
The Nissan Altima’s charred remains were scattered across Bartow Avenue in the wake of the accident.
According to police, the bus operator, along with two passengers on board the bus, sustained injuries. The traffic accident is currently under investigation. No criminal charges have been announced at this time. No names of those involved in the accident were released.
