BROOKLYN, NY – August 31, 2020 – According to an online news report posted on dailyvoice.com, a woman from Long Island has been arrested for driving while intoxicated and causing a serious motor vehicle accident with severe injuries to another motorist. The accident occurred in Fairfield County. According to the news report, that woman was speeding while driving drunk.
The news report states that the Shelton police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving two different cars close to the Pine Rock Deli located on River Road. The suspected intoxicated driver, a 23-year-old woman from Floral Park, was involved in a collision with a second unidentified motorist. The Shelton police stated that the second car driver was seriously injured and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment of personal injuries and evaluation. The 23-year-old Floral Park woman was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The Shelton Police, along with the Fairfield Police Accident Reconstruction Team, initiated a preliminary investigation into the accident. The initial report alleges that the intoxicated driver had alcohol in her system, and she had cocaine in her possession at the moment of the crash. An arrest warrant for the intoxicated driver was issued after the lab results showing the driver was driving under the influence.
The suspect turned herself into Shelton police on August 27, 2020, and she was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence, assault, and possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was also ticketed for failure to drive in the proper lane, speeding over 60 mph, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
