The Collision Which Involved Driver Injured in Long Island. In an auto accident at the Sea Cliff Long Island Rail Road crossing, a car became airborne and crossed into oncoming traffic. The collision, which involved two vehicles, left one driver seriously injured in Glen Cove, Long Island. Police say the accident is being investigated by Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives.
According to Newsday, a 32-year-old man was driving a 2000 Toyota Corolla at a “high rate of speed” on Sea Cliff Avenue. Police say his car became airborne and struck a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro while crossing into the oncoming lane. The Corolla driver was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries. He is listed in guarded condition. The driver of the Camaro, a 55-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In Hoboken, New Jersey, a recent commuter train crash killed at least one person and injured over 100 more. Witnesses at the scene say the train was running at high speed with no braking when it crashed into the platform at Hoboken. According to ABC 7, at least two people were in critical condition following the accident; one of them was likely the train engineer. A number of other passengers were trapped. Most injuries occurred in the first car. The station itself also suffered heavy damage and collapse.
Another Crash Which The Driver Was Killed In New Jersey
Another tragic transit accident in New Jersey killed two people and injured 18 in August. The accident occurred at North Broad Street and Raymond Boulevard when one bus T-boned another. According to ABC 7, the accident likely occurred at high speed. The bus that got T-boned was broken nearly in half. The driver of the Route 59 bus had no passengers, but the Route 13 bus he struck had 17 passengers on board. The accident killed a 49-year-old woman and grandmother of 3 who was on her way to work. Six people were left in critical condition and many were trapped by twisted metal seats. The driver of the Route 59 bus was also killed.
