Long Island Car Crash Left An Injured Driver. An accident on Thursday, September 15 in Copiague, New York left the driver of a BMW critically injured, police said.
Suffolk County police First Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which occurred around 10 a.m. on Dixon Avenue near Bayview Avenue in Copiague.
Michael Marcantano, 94, of Massapequa Park, was driving a 2002 Mercury west on Dixon. He was trying to make a left turn onto Bayview when his car was struck by a 1994 BMW driven by Peter Tejada, 24, of Copiague, Newsday reports.
Tejada Lost Control And Struck A Telephone Pole
According to a police statement, Tejada lost control of the BMW and struck a parked, 2014 Toyota 4Runner and a telephone pole. The Toyota was not occupied, the police statement said.
Emergency services extricated Tejada from the BMW, police said. Tejada was airlifted by Suffolk County police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. Police say he was in critical condition. Marcantano was not hurt. All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks, Newsday reports.
