THE BRONX, NEW YORK – According to an online news report on nydailynews.com, the driver of a luxury automobile was caught on video camera, crashing the lime green sedan into 11 people while fleeing pursuing law enforcement officers in the Bronx. The driver was found and was arrested, according to law enforcement officials.
The 29-year-old was arrested following the dangerous police pursuit during bumper-to-bumper traffic on East Fordham Road in Fordham Manor. NYPD officers attempted to pull over the lime green Mercedes Benz GLC on Marion Avenue at around 5 PM. The stop was initiated due to the car’s excessive window tint. When an NYPD officer approached the car and banged on the driver’s car window, the suspect purportedly ignored the officer and rammed into cars in traffic. The driver attempted to escape by driving up and onto the curb and then raced down a sidewalk, striking two vendors’ carts. The traffic stop and subsequent police chase were captured on video. The suspect struck seven vehicles before bolting from the scene, law enforcement officials reported. Eleven individuals, all occupants in the cars struck by the suspect, sustained injuries and were treated at local area hospitals. Fortunately, law enforcement officials stated that no pedestrians were harmed in the terrifying incident.
Law enforcement officers captured and arrested the suspect after officers jump out of their police cruisers, drew their guns, and ordered the driver to surrender. Police charged the suspect with 11 counts of leaving the scene of an accident and reckless endangerment. The suspect was also criminally charged with fleeing an officer, obstructing government administration, making an illegal U-turn, and reckless driving.
The suspect abandoned the lime green Mercedes Benz at Hughes and Crescent Avenues, approximately 12 blocks away from the collisions.
