NEW YORK, NY – A news report posted on radio.com states that a drunk driver collided with the back of an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer truck along the Brooklyn expressway, tragically killing the passenger in the motor vehicle. Law enforcement authorities stated that the 30-year-old driver, was allegedly speeding along the Gowanus Expressway in a black 535i BMW sedan when the man collided with a tractor-trailer truck at the 92nd street exit along the Gowanus Expressway in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York at approximately 11:30 pm.
Local police stated that the tractor-trailer truck was heading in the middle lane along the westbound lanes and was heading toward Staten Island. The passenger, a 30-year-old woman, was discovered unconscious and unresponsive by law enforcement officers. She was tragically declared deceased at the accident scene.
The driver was taken to the NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, and is listed in stable medical condition. Police stated that the driver has been charged with DWI, refusing a breathalyzer exam, and will likely face additional criminal charges. According to the police report, the driver had another previous DWI conviction on his record.
