According to facts from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drivers who have a blood alcohol concentration, or BAC, of 0.08% or more are considered impaired by alcohol under the applicable law. Approximately one in three traffic fatalities in the U.S. involve a driver who is impaired by alcohol. Pursuant to efforts on the part of the states to prevent drunk driving, the rates of drunk driving and alcohol-related fatal accidents have decreased over the past few years. Notwithstanding, drivers still get behind the wheel while drunk over one million times per year.
