
Fatal Hit-and-run Collision in Queens
SOUTH OZONE PARK, QUEENS A news report on PIX11.com states that a hit-and-run driver tragically struck and killed a 77-year-old woman and hurt two other people in a three-vehicle accident on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens, New York, last Sunday morning. The hit-and-run driver was operating a BMW X6 southbound along the expressway by 116th Avenue in South Ozone Park at approximately 3:30 in the morning.
The BMW collided with a Nissan Altima and then crashed into a Toyota Camry, according to police. The BMW driver then lost control of their motor vehicle, and the BMW rolled over a guardrail down onto a service road. The female driver then left the accident scene on foot, accident investigators reported.
The 38-year-old man driving the Nissan Altima was transported to a local area hospital with accident-related injuries, and a 77-year-old woman riding in a rear seat was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene, police stated.
According to the NYPD, the 40-year-old Camry driver was also transported to a local area hospital due to accident-related injuries.
Police have not immediately released the hit-and-run driver’s identity. Submit tips to police by contact Crime Stoppers. That accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement.
