The Dangers of U-Turn Accidents
Making a U-turn can be a convenient way to quickly change directions while driving. However, making U-turns can also be dangerous. While some streets have signs that indicate drivers can make a U-turn from a left lane, many streets have “no U-turn” signs. When making a U-turn, drivers typically do so from the left lane when there are multiple lanes of traffic. Drivers who make left turns from any other lane run the risk of being struck by a vehicle.
Additionally, many drivers making U-turns are in a hurry, which can impede a driver’s judgment to safely make the U-turn so long as there are no laws prohibiting U-turns at a street or intersection. Being in a hurry and attempting U-turns from lanes other than the lane furthest to the left poses the risk that an accident will happen that may result in severe injuries or death.
