Ford Mustang Mach-E Glass Recall
According to a safety news report posted on consumerreports.org, Ford is recalling its Ford Mustang Mach-E due to glass separation issues that could cause an accident. The recalled states that certain glass panels were not correctly affixed leading to risks of detachment. The vehicles were already recalled in Canada.
Ford announced two new recalls for its Mustang Mach-E electric sportscars to correct the windshield and panoramic roof glass. Ford states that improper bonding during manufacturing caused the defects.
The recall notice states that the panoramic roof could separate from the Mustang while the car is in motion. The investigation into the primary cause is currently ongoing. The glass recall affects approximately 13,000 Mustang Mach-E models. In addition, the Mustang Mach-E’s windshields were found to not attach properly bonded to about 18,000 Mustang Mach-E models. The announcement states that if the windshield or panoramic glass panel separates from the car, it will create a dangerous road hazard and could cause an accident.
Documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveal that all Mustang Mach-E models produced from February 24, 2020, until July 18, 2021, have the defect.
Owners of the affected Mustang Mach-E models could experience water leaks or increased wind noise. Ford states that all affected Mustang Mach-E owners will be contacted in late October and will be instructed to go to their closest dealership for the repair.
