Rush hour crashes are common because the roads are busy with people rushing to and from their jobs. When roads are crowded, the risk of crashes increases. When roads are crowded with drivers who are stressed, tired or frustrated, the chances or accidents increase even more.
Drivers who are on their way to work may find themselves trying to save time by speeding or driving aggressively. Many times, this behavior, which is motivated by a desire to get somewhere faster, results in an accident that not only delays the person who was trying to save time but can also lead to serious injuries, deaths and slows down all other drivers who were trying to use the same roadway.
Another issue is that drivers who are stuck behind the wheel day after day while trying to get to the office can become bored and may be prone to distractions. These people may feel compelled to glance at their emails, send a text, or otherwise carry out activities that take their focus off the road ahead. This behavior is also dangerous and can lead to a collision.
One a crash happens, there is an increased risk of more collisions occurring. Sometimes people run into the stopped vehicles, and other times people who are rubbernecking cause additional crashes.
It is important to remember that driving is an activity that really requires people to focus.
