
Police officer injured
According to a news report post on NYDailyNews.com, a Mazda MX-5 Miata caused a severe motor vehicle accident W. 50th St. in Midtown, New York. The accident in Manhattan began when a law enforcement officer attempted to pull over a Mazda MX-5 Miata driven by a man suspected of a parole violation related to a burglary case.
The news report states that the law enforcement officers were attempting to stop the Mazda Miata at the corner of Eighth Avenue and of W. 45th Street at approximately 12:10 p.m. As the police officer stop the suspect’s car, the officer walked up to the Mazda Miata, reached into the car, and attempted to shut off the car. As the police officer attempted to turn the Mazda Miata’s key, the 50-year-old suspect fled the scene.
The news report states that the driver continued to speed through Midtown and that the driver eventually caused an accident on West 50th Street. The driver of the Mazda Miata ran from the accident scene, and he ran into the subway. One officer was injured in the incident, and he was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
In total, there were four vehicles involved in the accident – a UPS truck, a blue car, a black Lincoln SUV, and a white SUV. Police are still searching for the suspect.
