NESCONSET, NY – August 13, 2020 – According to an online news report on OnTownMedia.com, detectives for the Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad is investigating a serious auto accident that severely injured a 2-year-old child. The motor vehicle collision occurred in Nesconset, New York.
According to Suffolk County Police, a 50-year-old man from Saint James was operating a Mitsubishi Mirage and heading eastbound along Middle Country Road, close to the Cambon Place area, in the late afternoon. Suffolk County Police stated that the man had his 4-year-old and 2-year old boys in his motor vehicle with him. The news report states that a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 that was heading eastbound struck the rear-end of the 50-year-old man’s Mitsubishi, causing the accident. The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m., according to Suffolk County Police.
The location of the accident was near the west side of the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove close to the borders of Lake Grove, St. James, and Nesconset. The 2-year-old was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and was in critical, yet stable condition, according to Suffolk County Police. The man’s 4-year-old son was taken to the Stony Brook University Hospital with minor injuries, according to Suffolk County Police.
The driver of the 2018 Dodge Ram 1500, a 50-year-old man from Port Jefferson, New York, went to the Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, New York, to treat injuries according to the Suffolk County police. The Suffolk County Police impounded the Dodge Ram 1500 and the Mitsubishi for safety inspections. The investigators are asking if anyone has information about the accident to contact the Fourth Squad.
