Belt Parkway Accident
BROOKLYN, NY – A news article posted on patch.com reports that a man who was stopped at the scene of a Belt Parkway traffic accident was tragically killed when another motorist crashed into a responding police cruiser.
According to the report, the victim who was at the scene of a car accident tragically passed away after a speeding vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was arrested and charged.

Another driver, a 35-year-old man from Brooklyn, was driving the BMW i8 that rear-ended a Honda Pilot by exit 15. Both drivers involved in the collision remained at the accident scene. NYPD officers responded to the accident at approximately 1:15 in the morning.
As the responding police officers’ marked NYPD cruiser was parked in the left traffic lane with its emergency lights turned on, a speeding Nissan Rogue rear-ended the police vehicle and then struck the pedestrian who was standing beside his car. The collision threw the victim over the road’s center guardrail and on the eastbound lane of the Belt Parkway. EMS personnel declared the victim deceased at the scene of the accident.
The 35-year-old driver of the Nissan Rogue remained at the accident scene, and she was taken into police custody. The driver was charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving while ability impaired, manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and a speeding violation.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is currently investigating the accident. There were other accident injuries reported.
